Onion Cheddar Pull Apart Bread Super Hungry? Jump to the Recipe

I'm all about recipes that are super simple. While I love the challenge of making recipes from scratch or using lots of different ingredients, it's just as rewarding to make something delicious that requires little effort and few components.

This recipe uses flaky biscuits, Colby cheese and sauteed onions to make a crazy good pull-apart bread. The secret is to separate the flaky biscuits into two layers - so you have sixteen rolls instead of eight - for optimal filling and pull-apart goodness.

First saute the onions in some butted until they were caramelized. I cut my cheese into quarters and placed a square on each half biscuit - but feel free to use your favorite type of cheese, shredded or sliced.

I alternated the layers by putting just cheese on some, and a combination of cheese, onions and fresh parsley on others.

Then stack the biscuits in a bread loaf pan. Bake the bread for 6-10 minutes, or until the top of the loaf is golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.

We basically devoured this bread as soon as it came out of the oven. With ooey gooey layers of cheese matched with sweet onion was absolutely divine. Plus the whole thing took maybe fifteen minutes to make - so delicious AND quick.

Ingredients

  • 8 (1 can) flaky biscuit dough
  • 4 slices Colby cheddar cheese, cut into quarters
  • ½ cup white onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Split each biscuit in half (pull apart the layers) so there are sixteen biscuits.
  2. Finely chop the onion. Melt the butter over medium heat, then add the onion. Saute until the onion is beginning to brown and caramelize, about five minutes.
  3. Add a slice of cheese to the tops of each biscuit. Place a tablespoon of the sauteed onions and fresh parsley on half of the biscuits.
  4. Grease a bread pan. Hold or place the bread pan vertically and stack the biscuits into the pan.
  5. Bake for 6-10 minutes (or the amount of time recommended on the package), until golden brown and flaky. Let cool in the pan for about ten minutes for the optimal pull apart bread experience. Enjoy!
