Best Ever Broccoli Slaw

Best Ever Broccoli Slaw Super Hungry? Jump to the Recipe

If there's been one good thing to come out of quarantine it's my latest obession with broccoli slaw! I first saw the option for broccoli slaw when looking for shredded cabbage (aka cole slaw mix) and I was instantly intrigued. Turns out, it's basically the best thing ever and now we have to grab a bag of it every time we go out to the grocery store.

While I now have many, MANY recipes revolving around this revolutionary discovery, I first wanted to introduce you to broccoli slaw in the way it is supposedly intended to be served according to the package - basically a cousin to cole slaw.

I made my own slaw dressing from scratch and added in ingredients like sweet summer corn to really turn this slaw into something extraordinary. While my recipe is definitely a play on classic cole slaw dressing, little touches of lime and spicy mustard are really what sets this dish apart.

Even if you say you hate cole slaw, this is an awesome recipe to try to get you back on the cole slaw train. I find when cole slaw is made correctly, it's absolutely irresistible. Not to mention the addictive qualities of the broccoli slaw itself - this dish is sure to be the talk of your next (socially distant) cookout.

It's tangy and zesty, sweet and a bit sour too. It's sure to convert any cole slaw haters out there. And the secret is in the broccoli slaw itself. I'm not even sponsored by any broccoli slaw companies (I'll never give in to big broccoli!) but this stuff is straight up delicious.

I'm assuming the process for broccoli slaw is shredding the stalks, which I usually discard. And while I definitely did not make the slaw from scratch, I'm sure with enough determination I could julienne the stalks to achieve the same texture. The addition of carrots and raddicchio add great color and texture to the broccoli mix.

I added plenty of sweet corn to my corn slaw as well, since I definitely have a sweet tooth when it comes to any kind of summer corn. With just a hint of heat from spicy brown mustard and red pepper flakes (which are totally optoinal, by the way), the sweet and spicy flavors melt beautifully into the tangy cole slaw dressing.

Honestly, this dish is best made the day before so that all the amazing flavors can fully be absorbed into the slaw.

The crunch in this cole slaw is definitely my favorite part. Truly there's nothing better on a hot summer afternoon than some chilled, sweet and sour broccoli slaw!
